Fillings

Tooth decay can cause pain and sensitivity and can spread if left untreated. That’s where dental fillings come in. Fillings are a common procedure and are often many patient’s first experiences with restorative dentistry. First, Dr. Freyer removes the decayed area, known as a cavity, and ensures the tooth is cleaned before placing a composite resin mixture into the hole. The filling is cured with a special LED light, which causes a reaction in the resin particles, creating a permanent bond to the tooth. The process is relatively simple and quick, and with our special tooth-colored composite, the restoration blends with your natural teeth. Dental fillings eliminate decay and allow you to use your teeth as always, without pain and sensitivity. Keeping your smile healthy is important, and if decay becomes evident, dental fillings are the first intervention to stop the spread. Get back to your regular routine quickly and ensure your smile is as strong as possible without the presence of decay.

Porcelain Inlays/Porcelain Onlays

Traditional dental fillings are effective at restoring a tooth that’s been affected by decay, however, if a tooth has moderate to severe dental decay, a filling may not be the best option. Decay weakens the tooth significantly, and since the decayed portion of the tooth has to be removed, the greater the amount of decay, the more of the tooth that has to be removed. In these situations, we recommend porcelain inlay or onlay restorations, which can strengthen the structural integrity of the tooth when a significant portion needs to be removed. Inlays restore the interior biting surface, up to the cusps of the tooth, while onlays cover the same area, extending over the cusps to the exterior of the tooth. Often, traditional fillings need additional support from a dental crown, but inlays and onlays are crafted from high-quality porcelain which makes them strong enough to support the natural tooth on their own. Inlay and onlay restorations are durable and can also be used to replace old, failing fillings.

Crowns/Bridges

You can have a beautiful, complete smile even if you have broken or damaged teeth, thanks to dental crowns. Crown restorations are little “caps” made of porcelain ceramic that fit over your teeth and help strengthen and protect the tooth. First, we take precise impressions of your teeth to ensure an accurate fit of your crown. We’ll create a temporary crown while we wait for our off-site lab to create your permanent dental crown. The temporary crown restores your smile in the interim, so you never have to be without the complete, protected smile you deserve. Once your crown arrives from the lab, we’ll permanently bond it to your tooth. This restoration fits over your tooth seamlessly and blends perfectly with the rest of your teeth to create a natural aesthetic.

Dental crowns are also used to secure a bridge, which is a fixed prosthetic that replaces a single or series of missing teeth. Crowns are placed on the natural teeth adjacent to the gap created from the lost teeth and serve as anchors for the dental bridge. Our crowns and bridges are always metal-free and crafted from the finest ceramic, creating a beautiful, natural-looking smile.

Partials and Dentures

Missing teeth impact not only the way your smile looks but also your confidence. We offer a range of replacement options to suit each patient’s needs. Those who have some healthy teeth remaining are candidates for partial denture restorations. Similar to dental bridges, partials replace a series of missing teeth, however, unlike bridges, partials are completely removable. Held in place by metal clasps that are attached to your natural teeth, partials complete your smile and match your facial aesthetic.

We also offer dentures for patients who have lost an entire arch of teeth, either upper, lower, or both. We’ll create a custom set of prosthetics that look and feel natural. Our conventional dentures are held in place by natural suction, but we also offer implant-retained dentures for a more secure fit. Whichever option you chose, we ensure you have the most comfortable fit possible for dentures that don’t rub or slip. You’ll feel more confident with a full set of teeth that complete your smile in a beautiful, natural way.

Endodontics

When a tooth becomes infected, it can lead to an abscess, which can be incredibly painful. While the term “root canal” has received an unfair reputation, the procedure can actually relieve the pain caused by an abscess and restore your smile to proper health. Endodontic therapy, the technical name for a root canal, can help save an infected tooth that may otherwise need to be extracted. The dental pulp is made up of nerve tissues and blood vessels that inhabit the natural chamber of the tooth near the roots. When this area of the tooth becomes infected or inflamed, it’s necessary to remove the tissue in order to prolong the longevity and functionality of the natural tooth. In many cases, we recommend additional support from a dental crown to support and protect the weakened tooth. We perform anterior and premolar endodontics, as well as molar and retreatment endodontic therapy in our office, but we may refer complex cases to a specialist as needed. We believe your natural teeth are always best, and we’ll try to save your natural teeth whenever possible. Endodontic therapy can keep your smile healthy and allow you to retain your natural teeth.

Oral Surgery

While we take every measure to keep your natural teeth whenever possible, there are some situations where extraction of your tooth may be the best case for your oral health. If we recommend oral surgery for any reason, you can rest assured that you’ll be in the best hands possible. We keep your oral health at the forefront, and every surgery we perform seeks to keep your smile as healthy and functional as possible. When you’re a candidate for oral surgery, we’ll be with you every step of the way. Most surgeries are performed right in our office, with a compassionate team and dentist you trust. In some cases, such as impacted third molars, we’ll refer you to a specialist who’s skilled at those specific treatments. We’ll keep you comfortable and relaxed throughout the procedure, and you’ll always understand your post-operative care instructions. We’re committed to helping you heal quickly and return to your daily routine as soon as possible.

Technology

Digital photography plays an important role in our restorative dentistry in Omaha. We use technology to our advantage, assisting our treatment to make procedures more convenient and effective for our patients. Our digital images allow us to easily share what we discover with our patients, so you can better understand your diagnosis and treatment. Our imaging equipment takes precise pictures of your teeth and surrounding tissue with unprecedented accuracy. We’re able to diagnose infection and inflammation, as well as damage or decay quickly and easily, all while exposing you to less radiation than traditional imaging. All of our restorations and prosthetics are designed to look and feel as natural as possible, and our digital photography helps ensure that you get an accurate fit and a beautiful aesthetic no matter which treatment you receive.
